Need A Job? Try These REAL Work From Home Job and Business Opportunities

Nothing frustrates me more than finding my email in-box filled with those 'Work At Home' scam messages every day. I used to try to un-subscribe from those email spammers, but that only brought more junk email my way. The good news is that all those messages inspired me to research work from home jobs and in-home business ventures to separate the real from the fake.

I spoke to a few people that posted advice about working from home in various forums. I was surprised at some of the things they told me. One guy said that he used to spend a fortune in gas each week just to go back and forth to and from an office job he was certain he could do at home. After considering the possibilities, he approached his boss and discussed moving his job to his house.

One of the pet peeves his boss had was that no one wanted to come into work on weekends because of the extra gas it would take without getting paid a fortune to do so. This guy addressed that issue by explaining to his boss that he could work the extra hours from home without being seriously inconvenienced and the company would not have to pay him all kinds of crazy overtime or travel expenses.

His boss loved his idea and it wasn't long before he became a work from home employee (or tele-commuter as some are called). This guy took a job he already had and converted it into a work from home position without losing anything except the wear and tear on his car. That extra gas money he saved every week felt better in his pocket than in some gas station's cash register. This guy still had to come into work a couple of times a month for meetings and such, but that commute was negligible compared to driving back and forth every day.

Not everyone has the advantage of already being employed when they try working from their dwelling. The vast majority of home job seekers are not working and have all but given up trying to find conventional employment. For many of them a work from home job or home business opportunity is their lost shot at some freedom from poverty or living in less than desirable circumstances. With that in mind, I offer the following opportunities. These are real, no fee for hire jobs and business opportunities.

There are many more real work from home jobs and in-home business opportunities that you can take advantage of listed for free at Work At Home For REAL. These include everything from getting paid to be a mock Juror for law firms to calling into radio shows for cash. There are lots of tech, customer service and writing/editing home gigs as well. You can start a home-based Travel Consultant or Pet Groomer business without experience. The key is having a high speed Internet connection, a fairly new laptop or desktop computer, a home phone and lots of confidence.

The people I spoke to from online forums who are already working at home tell me that patience and persistence are the keys to finding good in-home employment. It takes time and there are no short cuts. Because the economy is in such a free fall, everyone is looking for work and that includes work they can do from home. The job seekers that eventually find in-home employment are the ones that are willing to visit all the online sites that offer those kinds of jobs and people who take the time to post their talents, services and abilities on the various web sites available for that purpose.

The primary rules of the road for home job seekers are:

- Never pay to get hired. There are all sorts of scammers out there who want to separate you from your money by offering information on home jobs that I am giving you here for free.

- Never give out personal information through email, or to individuals (or web sites) you suspect may only be looking to steal identities. Stick with mainstream companies that have good reputations. If you are working as an independent contractor, anyone hiring you would not need a lot of personal information in order to pay you.

- Think before you charge. Never price yourself out of the market. Do some research and find out what everyone else is charging for the same service before you decide what you are worth.

- Be ready to go before you get hired. Set up a dedicated work space in a quiet part of your home and make a list of the hours that you can work without any or many interruptions.

- Build your reputation by going the extra mile for your employer or client. Offer the kind of service that is above and beyond the call of duty and you will be the one they think of first for future assignments or better jobs.

Apart from working for someone else or starting a new home business, you can always try the old stand-by's of working in or near home:

- Babysitting, dog sitting or house sitting. - Doing other people's laundry. - Washing and detailing cars for individuals or dealers in your area. - Running simple errands for elderly or disabled neighbors. - Cutting lawns, painting or performing simple repairs in your area. - Party or simple event planner. - House and office cleaner. - DJ, Comic, Magician or Clown

A new and interesting cottage industry has begun to take hold among people who want to work flexible hours in or near their neighborhood. Thanks to the tsunami of foreclosures over the past few years, banks have huge numbers of properties that are sitting empty and looking bad. A number of cities and towns worried about property values and appearances are now issuing hefty fines to those banks because they are not cutting lawns or properly maintaining their foreclosed properties.

People living near these properties are now offering their services to the banks as independent contractors to cut lawns, make small repairs and check on houses once a week. Most charge a weekly or monthly per property fee based on what needs to be done and that saves the banks big bucks. Why? Because professional services and property management companies that do the same work charge a fortune for their services. This may be an opportunity for you.

Most people that work from home agree that they have had to try many different jobs before finding their niche. In most cases those jobs were financial stop gap measures to pay the bills or maintain a decent lifestyle. Many of these opportunities come without benefits and that is something to consider if you need them. Working from home may not be the perfect solution to your financial problems, but it might help keep the wolf away from your door until you can do better.
